That “Carrie” wig and cringe-worthy “Sex and the City” skit have cost Samantha Armytage lunch. After subjecting Kristin Davis to an embarrassing sketch on Thursday, the “Sunrise” presenter has been axed from her hosting gig at a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) charity event on Friday.

The $200/person lunch at the Ivy in Sydney will have Davis speaking about her work with refugees. Armytage was slated to host and conduct a Q&A with Davis on stage. However, the Australian breakfast show host revealed that the offer was rescinded.

“Since our interview yesterday, organisers have asked Sam not to host the event now or to attend it at all,” her co-presenter David Koch said in the show, adding the sketch was “meant to be a bit of fun.”

That wasn’t how Davis viewed it, though.

She retweeted a couple of posts from her Twitter followers, who criticised “Sunrise” for the poor segment.

“Poor @KristinDavis on @sunrise7. I thought the segment would never end #sun7,” one post reads.

“That was the worst piece of TV I’ve ever seen. Kristin, you and your charity work is great. Shame @sunrise 7,” another follower wrote.

Many Australian viewers condemned the skit as well, calling it a painful thing to watch. Some noticed how Davis looked uncomfortable while going along with the embarrassing script-reading.

On Thursday’s show, Armytage and Koch seemed more eager to talk about Davis’ now-defunct US TV show, “Sex and the City,” than her charity work. Armytage then led her to a table with co-hosts Natalie Barr (wearing a red wig as “Miranda”) and Edwina Bartholomew. Armytage wore a blonde, curly wig to resemble Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker in “SATC”) and asked Davis to read script as Charlotte, her character in the show.

Koch, Armytage and the rest of the “Sunrise” team apologised to Davis on Friday’s show, with Koch admitting they should have focused more on Davis’ charity work than their sketch.

“Kristin was apparently offended and we are very sorry if you are,” he said. Armytage added they were trying to poke fun at themselves, not at the US series, which ended in 2004, or at the stars.
