Jai Courtney is the latest addition to the casts of “Suicide Squad,” where he will be playing the role of Captain Boomerang along co-stars Jared Leto (The Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress). The actor recently expressed his excitement over the film and hinted of a “competition” happening between the casts.

Jai Courtney tells Access Hollywood during a press round for his film "The Divergent Series: Insurgent," that he’s looking forward to shoot “Suicide Squad.” The David Ayer-directed film will start shooting in March and throughout the rest of Spring, according to Movieweb, and the actor revealed he’s been training along with everyone else for their respective roles. "Everyone's been in training, but we're yet to kind of all converge and get down, but that's happening this week," he said.

Jai didn’t reveal any details about his Captain Boomerang character, but claims there would be “friendly competition” among his "Suicide Squad" co-stars. This is said to be due to the fact that movie director David Ayer reportedly wants to extract the best out of his actors. Courtney says the director demands a “certain amount of talent and dedication” and judging from “the group he's assembled, there's probably going to be a really healthy amount of competition between us,” he tells Access during the interview.

However, Jai Courtney claims the competition does not necessarily mean outweighing each other through the “macho elements of getting in shape and stuff.” Instead, the actor claims it would be a healthy competition between the casts of helping each other bring out the best in one another when demanded.

Courtney says he considers playing the role of Captain Boomerang in “Suicide Squad” as a challenge that he’s privileged to be given. He also gave praises for David Ayer during the interview, saying he was “fascinated” with how the director challenged his “Fury” actors with their preparation for the film. As for “Suicide Squad,” the actor didn’t reveal any plot details but assured the movie will be “really cool” and “interesting” since it would be “as big” as anyone can imagine.

Principal filming for “Suicide Squad” will start in Toronto, Canada. The film is slated for a U.S. release on Aug 5, 2016.
