“Suicide Squad” might feature major DC Comics character, Batman. The movie is still in nascent stage but speculations are already running rampant. And now reports claim Ben Affleck will be joining the star studded cast of the movie featuring mainly supervillains and anti-heroes.

The rumour sparked up after Latino Review posted a report purporting to reveal the basic plot of “Suicide Squad.” The report claimed the film focuses on the main characters—Deadshot, Harley Quinn and The Joker. Sources to the same report claimed involvement of Batman in the movie’s storyline. As per the report, Batman will be mentioned on various occasions during the events depicted in “Suicide Squad.” He will reportedly be also “shown on camera footage.” It is said his appearance in “Suicide Squad” is going to lay the ground for a standalone movie.

Now, Mark Hughes of Forbes says that a source told him that The Dark Knight will be a part of the “Suicide Squad” in-person. “I’ve heard for weeks that Batman will appear in ‘Suicide Squad,’” the author of the article wrote. According to the report, Ben Affleck’s Batman will supposedly appear in an “in-story scene, likely at the end of the film and focused on certain circumstances involving The Joker.”

The aforementioned news website confirms Batman’s scene involving The Joker will set up the foundation for Batman’s solo film. The said film will reportedly feature The Joker as the “possible/likely antagonist.” The author goes on to claim that the said film will be inspired by Frank Miller’s comic book series “The Dark Knight Returns.” The third issue of series reportedly features a story focusing on Batman’s battle with the “escaped Joker.” Hughes also claims Gotham City Police Commissioner Ellen Yindel, who is James Gordon’s replacement in the comics, will also be featured in the film as new Gotham Police commissioner.

Meanwhile, fans must note that the studio is yet to reveal official plot details for “Suicide Squad” and announce the solo Batman film. Thus it is wise to consider these reports a mere rumour.

“Suicide Squad” begins filming in April, 2015 in Toronto. The film stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Cara Delevingne as The Enchantress. The film is expected to be released on August 5, 2016. Stay tuned for more spoilers.
