Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman will be the new Bond girl in the upcoming film “SPECTRE.” The 28-year-old actress will play the mysterious character named Estrella, said the message posted on the official page of James Bond 007 on Facebook. Sigman will star with other Bond girls – Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux. Sigman is also the first Mexican actress to play the role of a Bond girl.

“We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Sigman has joined the cast of “SPECTRE” as Estrella. The Mexican actress was the lead in the Academy Awards nominated “Miss Bala” (2011) and also starred in Norway’s submission for Best Film at this year’s Oscars, “Pioneer” (2013),” the announcement on Facebook said. Sigman recently appeared in television series “The Bridge” (2013) and “Narcos” (2015), said the announcement. The message did not reveal more information about her role in the upcoming film.

The film “SPECTRE” is unique in many ways as it has not one but three Bond girls in it. Monica Bellucci is the oldest Bond girl in the film at 50 years of age while Sigman is the first Mexican actress to become a Bond girl. According to BBC, “SPECTRE” will focus on Bond's childhood as an orphan where he is on a “mission from the very beginning."

In the 24th Bond film, actor Daniel Craig reprises his role as James Bond for the fourth time. Other artists in the film are Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Andrew Scott and Rory Kinnear. The film is directed by Sam Mendes, who told BBC that the plot will develop the characters of Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw as Q.

In the new Bond film, “SPECTRE” stands Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion – a fictional global terrorist organisation. Bond is on a mission to uncover it after he receives a cryptic message from his past. It is the fourth Bond film that is being shot in Austria after “The Spy Who Loved Me,” “The Living Daylights,” and “Quantum of Solace.” “SPECTRE” will release in UK cinemas on Nov. 6, 2015.
