The 2015 Holden State of Origin III is expected to enjoy its highest attendance figure ever after officially selling out all tickets at Suncorp Stadium on July 8. The interstate series decider will feature a match against New South Wales Blues and Queensland Maroons.

National Rugby League chief Dave Smith confirmed all tickets were sold-out including those at the standing room areas. With more than 52,000 people expected to gather in the stadium, a new attendance record will likely be set for the series. Smith added that the game three in Brisbane could be the biggest State of Origin match ever and “will be a game to remember.”

“We have a decider in front of a sell-out crowd at Suncorp Stadium – it doesn’t get much better than that. The first two games of the series have been the biggest free-to-air television shows of the year. Now Origin 3 is a sell out and we are expecting another huge television audience. The support for the series has been phenomenal and I’d encourage fans to watch the decider wherever they can – from the 117 countries where it will be available,” Smith said via NRL.com.

Queensland Rugby League managing director Rob Moore said it would be one of the greatest nights in Australian sport citing the State of Origin is as magnificent as Maroons fans who has been “phenomenal over the course of the series.” Moore added that it will be great to finish the series in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium.

Fans who missed out on ticket sales can still take part in the Origin festivities by getting along to the 18th Man bars at Jupiters and Treasury Casinos or by joining the discussion on social media. NRL chief executive Dave Trodden strongly believes the 2015 State of Origin series has been one of the best on record with the Blues ready to battle out Queensland in the decider in front of a huge crowd.

“The team know that there will be millions of fans watching on television as well so this is shaping as one of the biggest Origin matches we’ve seen,” Trodden said.

The ANZ stadium held an attendance of 80, 122 fans in the series opener and a record of 91,513 people attended Origin II at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Next week’s Origin decider has a chance to break the 2013 attendance record of 215,883 for a three-game series.
