Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” is set to hit theatres on Jan. 1, 2016. Recently, the director was on Howard Stern’s Sirius radio show, in which he revealed why was not happy about the theater booking of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

According to Tarantino, "The Hateful Eight" was set to play in the Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles starting on Dec. 25. However, he said it was cancelled because of the extended play of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” there through the holidays.

Tarantino described it as “real bad news” and told Stern how furious he was because Disney forced Arclight Cinemas to push his film’s 70MM presentation. For the director, what Disney did was extortion and described it as vindictive and mean.

“They are going out of their way to f--k me,” Deadline quoted Tarantino as saying. “The Hateful Eight” director claimed that ArcLight Cinemas told Disney that they were honouring their contract for his film but the latter threatened to pull “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” from all their locations.

One reason why Tarantino is particularly furious about what he claimed Disney did was that he made “The Hateful Eight” for the Cinerama Dome. In fact, the opening credits of the film include the Cinerama Dome logo.

In addition, Tarantino told Stern that he had made much money for Disney. As the previous owner of Miramax, Disney released Tarantino’s box office hits “Pulp Fiction,” “Kill Bill” and “Jackie Brown.”

On the other hand, Tarantino clarified that he is infuriated with the top executives at Disney and not with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams. From 2002 to 2004, Tarantino played McKenas Cole on the ABC show “Alias,” which was created by Abrams.

Disney has yet to respond to Tarantino’s comments. Meanwhile, in another interview with Showbiz 411, the director said he was thinking of putting “The Hateful Eight” on Broadway as a legitimate stage play most likely in 2016.

“The Hateful Eight” is written and directed by Tarantino. The western film stars Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Demian Bichir, Walton Goggins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson.
