A preview video of “Star Wars Rebels” season 3 episode 16 has been released online. The scene shows an unlikely warrior practicing hand-to-hand combat with droids. There is also a character from the non-canon “Clone Wars” animation series making a comeback.

The following article contains spoilers from the next episode of “Star Wars Rebels,” based on the preview video. Fans who don’t wish to know what happens next should stop now.

The preview video [see below] shows the storyline shifting back to the Empire. Agent Kallus (Voice by David Oyelowo) is asked to attend an important meeting. Grand Admiral Thrawn (Voice by Lars Mikkelsen) will also be back, and his plan to defeat the Rebels will slowly be unveiled.

Thrawn has so far been shown to be a studios type figure, who spends time doing research on his enemies to devise the perfect plan to defeat them. The preview scene from the next episode shows the character is not a book worm, and can indeed take care of himself in battle. The character can be seen doing some hand-to-hand combat training with Imperial droids, which are the same new droids that were seen guarding the cargo ship in “The Wynkahthu Job.”

Will Thrawn be involved in some actual fight scenes in “Star Wars Rebels” season 3? Teasing the character’s combat abilities could mean more action in the future.

Another interesting thing to note in the preview is the return of Admiral Yularen from the “Clone Wars” series. The character fought alongside General Skywalker against the likes of Admiral Trench. The character is older now and has been promoted to the rank of Colonel. He was also involved in the training of Kallus, who is described as a “star pupil.”

Colonel Yularen (Voice by Tom Kane) is in Lothal because Thrawn wants to make use of his expertise to find the Rebel spy in their midst. The Empire knows the code name of the spy to be Fulcrum. Thrawn promises that they will now be able to identify the root of their problem, so Kallus could be in some danger in the next episode.

“Star Wars Rebels” season 3 episode 16 is titled “Through Imperial Eyes.” After spending the last two episodes almost exclusively on the Rebels, the focus is back on the Empire. The plot will mainly be about Thrawn and the others trying to find and eliminate the spy.
