There is always a great deal of excitement when a new planet is introduced, and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will not disappoint on that front. A new report reveals details about a new world the fans will get to see this year in the film, which will apparently have some significance to the storyline.

The following article contains minor spoilers about a new planet featured in the upcoming film. Readers who do not wish to know any details about the film are advised to stop here.

According to a new report by Making Star Wars, a trusted site that got most of the leaks for “The Force Awakens” right, a source has revealed a new planet in the upcoming film to be like “Mars with snow on it.” This planet is said to be “really important” to the plot of the film.

As the name suggests this is a planet like Mars, with red coloured ground. The ground is covered with snow, resulting in an interesting colour contrast that should be exciting to see on screen. In the outdoor set, there is said to be a trench.

This appears to be a planet occupied by the First Order in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” The interiors are said to resemble the Star Killer base, in the sense that the Death Star like architecture blends in with the natural rocks and other environmental facets of this new world.

This location is speculated to be the home of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). The fans may get to see the new planet when Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) or Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) report their failure. A “Snowtrooper General” was also reportedly spotted on this set.

Filming at the salt flats in Bolivia is speculated to be for a part of this new planet. However, the report notes that this location could be standing in for another new world altogether.

The first trailer is slated to be released in April in Orlando during the Celebrations event. The same event in 2015 introduced the new planet of Jakku, and it appears the fans are in for a similar experience this time around.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is slated to be released on Dec. 15 in Australia. The film has been directed by Rian Johnson and will be introducing new characters played by Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.
