If one were to ask any “Contra” fan what would make the hard-as-nails shooter a better game, many of them would probably not ask for Chewbacca to be a playable character. Yet, that is what developer Konami has done for their mobile card battler “Star Wars: Force Collection,” as they have announced a new “Contra” mini-game featuring Han Solo’s hairy companion Chewbacca as the lead.

This “Contra” mini-game featuring Chewy spans four levels, as Chewbacca takes the fight to the Empire, with a number of moves that look like they come from the original “Contra” game for the SNES. He might be armed with a bowcaster from the movies, but his jumps and will look very familiar to hardcore “Contra” fans.

The mini-game spans four levels and will take Chewbacca to a number of familiar settings, previously seen in the “Star Wars” films. Players will take the hairy mascot of “Star Wars” to the forest moon of Endor and eventually the Imperial Base, where they’ll take on a number of Storm Troopers and even an AT-ST as stated by Polygon.

What may shock longtime “Contra” fans is that this might be the first “Contra” game to come out since 2011. IGN notes that the last official “Contra” game to get an official release was “Hard Corps: Rising.”

Fans who’ve already downloaded “Star Wars: Force Collection” must simply download the latest update to have access to the “Star Ward: Force Collection” mini-game. Newer fans must download the game and finish the tutorial before having access to the “Contra” mini-game, though Pocket Gamer states that fans better hurry, as this “Force Collection” update is a limited one.

Regular fans of “Star Wars: Force Collection” will be happy to know that the Chewbacca mini-game isn’t the only new feature that comes with this update. Players will have access to new cards for R2-D2 and C-3PO and a brand new boss fight against a Super Star Destroyer.

“Star Wars: Force Collection” is a card battling game, featuring a good number of characters from the “Star Wars” films. The game is a free-to-play title and is available for iOS and Android devices.
