New theories about “Star Wars: Episode 8” have surfaced online. The theories talk about Force Ghosts and Finn turning into a character from the non-canon “Legends.” With a new Padawan in training; it may be possible for a veteran Master Jedi to return to offer guidance.

[Spoiler alert]

According to a theory posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh, Master Yoda may return as a Force Ghost in the movie. The report points out that there have been rumours about Frank Oz, a puppeteer behind the popular character, travelling to Pinewood Studios, where filming for the film took place. Another rumour suggested that a set piece was constructed at the studio to accommodate a puppet.

So, the theory states that the probability of Master Yoda returning is high. Another possible Force Ghost in the movie is that of Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the report notes that there are no leaks about the character being featured in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”

Meanwhile, a theory posted on the YouTube channel of Urban Acolytes states that Finn’s (John Boyega) storyline could turn out to be the same one as the “Legends” character Kyle Katarn. The report points out the similarities between the two characters. Both of them worked for the Empire/First Order and later became rebels.

Kyle Katarn went on to become a Jedi, after realising that his prowess and instincts in the battlefield are really his Force sensitivity guiding him. The report, however, notes that there is little chance of Finn becoming a Jedi in the current trilogy as the major focus at the moment is on Rey (Daisy Ridley).

“Star Wars: Episode 8” is slated to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. The validity of the theories circulating on the internet will become clear when more details about the movie are officially revealed. [Update: The name of the 'Legends' character is Kyle Katarn, not Kyle Katan, as it appeared in this article before the correction].
