Scenes of Ahch-To, where Luke Skywalker was last seen, will now be filmed at Pinewood Studios for “Star Wars: Episode 8.” A picture of the set built for the relevant scenes has also leaked online.

The scenes of the new planet where previously filmed at Skellig Michael in Ireland. A picture from the set posted on Making Star Wars shows that the production crew has built replicas of the huts at Skellig Michael at Pinewood Studios.

There had been several issues the production crew of both JJ Abrams’ movie and the forthcoming movie had to face at Skellig Michael. From concerned environmentalists to unpredictable weather conditions, there were several challenges they had to face. The problems may have prompted the production crew to shift to other locations.

Filming of Ahch-To scenes will reportedly take place at multiple locations. Some of the scenes for “Star Wars: Episode 8” have already been filmed at Skellig Michael. Most of the scenes of this planet may now be filmed at the Pinewood Studios.

The planet Ahch-To was introduced in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” This is the planet where Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) was residing in, while both the Resistance as well as the First Order forces searched for him.

The forthcoming movie is set to pick up right from where the Abrams’ movie left off. Although the opening scene may not be from this planet, the main characters are expected to spend some time here.

The story is set to focus on the journey of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The two characters will chart their own course, as one learns to master the light side of the Force while other goes deeper into the dark side.

“Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. The movie is being directed by Rian Johnson.
