The cast of “Star Wars: Episode 8” go through a vigorous security check while at the production set of the movie. The security staff reportedly put a tape on the phones, to prevent the cast members from clicking pictures on the set.

The tape the security staff use is made of a special material that changes colour when removed, Mirror reports. The phones of the cast members are checked after filming is completed to see if anyone as tampered with the tape on the phone lens.

Cast members who are found to have taken photos on the set reportedly get a fine and there is also the possibility of them losing their job. Even the lead actors John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) are not spared from these security measures and they have to check in their phones every time they are on the set.

A source from the production set explained that the producers are concerned about leaks spoiling “Star Wars: Episode 8” for the fans. The producers felt that imposing the same rule for everybody was much easier than having a few exceptions.

Some of the cast members previously shared pictures from the sets, but that was only of their chairs. However, there have been a few leaks that show pictures and videos from the sets, revealing some of the extras dressed as aliens and filming of action sequences.

The producers have reportedly spent a whopping £3million (about AU $5.7 million) on security staff for the movie. The security detail includes a “fleet of drones” that will be used to prevent people from using drone technology to take pictures on the set.

Some of the scenes of “Star Wars: Episode 8” have been filmed at Dubrovnik, Croatia. The filming is now set to continue in Northern Ireland. The movie has been directed by Rian Johnson and is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia.
