"Disney Infinity 3.0" was unveiled on May 5 by Disney. The third edition of the “toy-to-life” video game series will feature characters from the "Star Wars" universe. (Watch the trailer below.)

Like "Skylander" and Nintendo's "Amiibo," "Disney Infinity" blends toys and video games. Fans can purchase figures and scan them into the game to play in the virtual world. The previous "Infinity" versions mashed together characters from Pixar, Marvel and Disney.

According to Game Informer, there will be three "Star Wars" Play Sets for "Disney Infinity 3.0." The first set is "Twilight of the Republic" with Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Darth Maul figurines and the second one is "Rise Against the Empire" featuring Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader. The third set will be based on December's film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The report also stated that the series developer Avalanche Software is still working on the game with some of the best developers in the industry. Ninja Theory is working on the game's combat while Sumo Digital is fine tuning the game's driving game-play.

Forbes reports that the “Star Wars” characters aren’t the only new additions in "Disney Infinity 3.0." The report states that figures based on Pixar’s upcoming “Inside Out” are on the way, along with an “Avengers: Age of Ultron” inspired Hulkbuster Iron Man. The report also adds that characters from “Tron: Legacy” and Disney Originals like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Mulan and Olaf from “Frozen” will be in the game.

Forbes also reported that James Pitaro the President of Disney Interactive said that "Disney Infinity" is the only game where fans can play and experience all the characters from Disney, Pixar, Marval and "Star Wars." Pitaro also added that they worked closely with LucasFilm to deliver an "authentic" "Star Wars" experience.

“Disney Infinity 3.0″ is scheduled for release this fall on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS and Android. "Disney Infinity 3.0" Starter Pack, including the Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker figures, costs $65 and can be pre-ordered at Disney.com
