Fred Couples has selected Jordan Spieth and Webb Simpson as his captain's picks for the United States in next month's Presidents Cup.

Rookie Spieth, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise this season and is being hailed as American's next great golfer, was added to the 10 players who qualified on the points list on Wednesday.

The duo will join Tiger Woods, Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Steve Stricker, Bill Haas, Hunter Mahan and Zach Johnson in the US team to face the internationals in Dublin, Ohio, in early October.

"I'm super stoked and happy I woke up this morning and it wasn't a dream," Spieth told golfchannel.com.

"You get to get out there and get all fired up. I love feeling the nerves. I love the adrenaline rush. That's what it's all about."

International captain Nick Price has selected Brendon de Jonge and Marc Leishman as his captain's picks, and they will join the already qualified Adam Scott, Jason Day, Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Richard Sterne, Hideki Matsuyama, Graham DeLaet and Angel Cabrera.
