A few actors have been associated to play as the next web-slinger in the “Spider-Man reboot,” which Sony Pictures will spearhead in collaboration with Marvel. There have been rumours of Donald Glover possibly being interested in portraying the role as black spider-man Miles Morales. Recently, Dylan O’Brien from “Teen Wolf” is believed to be in contention for the role of Peter Parker.

Dylan O’Brien is said to be one of the leading contenders to take on the role of the web-slinger in the “Spider-Man” reboot. “Percy Jackson” star Logan Lerman has also been rumoured for the part. However, according to Buzzfeed, the 23-year-old O’Brien has already been tapped by Marvel and Sony for the role. But the actor recently denied his involvement in the film. According to the site, he also admitted that he has not even auditioned for the part.

O’Brien told Buzzfeed while on the set of his TV series “Teen Wolf” that he has no idea where news of his “Spider-Man” casting came from. The actor also revealed he hasn’t heard about the offer “professionally” from the studios and only heard about the rumour online. “The Maze Runner” star said he finds the news weird and “funny.” “My friends from New Jersey are calling me. They’re like, what are you not telling me, dude?! Spider-Man?!” he said.

The actor straight out confirmed the rumours of him being the next “Spider-Man” is “not true.” Although he said that he may have disappointed a lot of his fans, the actor nevertheless also expressed his interest in the role. Dylan O’Brien said during the interview that he’s always been interested to play as Peter Parker. He considers it flattering to be rumoured for the role especially considering his age.

According to Cinema Blend, Dylan O’Brien’s age fits the age range for the new Spider-Man. It’s believed Marvel and Sony Pictures plans for a younger superhero to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the reboot. However, O’Brien admitted he has yet to hear about the offer from the studios itself and for the meantime, considers his Spider-Man role as a “false hope” brought by the Internet.
