Bandai Namco’s free-to-play game “Soulcalibur: Lost Swords,” a spinoff from the “Soulcalibur” series, has had a good run since its launch in 2014 for the Playstation 3. However, a new announcement from the game’s publisher reveals that they are officially going to pull the plug on the game come November this year.

In an announcement made by Bandai Namco, “Soulcalibur: Lost Swords” will go offline starting Nov. 30 at 3 AM ET, despite having a good fan base and more than 2 million downloads. The game will slowly stop its services starting on Sept. 30 as Bandai Namco will stop selling some in-game consumable items. On Oct. 27, the publisher will put an end to all sales of in-game items.

The announcement was made via a sad farewell video, although Bandai Namco used this video to tease that there could be more “Soulcalibur” games on the way. The video says “Long live Soulcalibur,” before adding, "The warriors may fade, but their souls will ignite again." The publisher has however refrained to specify the reason why the game is being pulled off air.

The latest entry from the main series, “Soulcalibur 5,” was released in 2012 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Polygon reports that earlier this year, Bandai Namco had surveyed “Soulcalibur” fans about who their favorite characters were.

Bandai Namco notes that the developer may be working on something big, saying, “Project Soul is probably preparing something huge." The poll could’ve been a way to determine the characters for the next game. Capcom used the same method to introduce R. Mika to “Street Fighter V.”

Unlike the main games from the “Soulcalibur” series, “Soulcalibur: Lost Swords” is strictly single-player and pits gamers against computer controlled enemies. The game was regularly updated by Bandai Namco, adding new events, enemies and even characters.
