Shane Watson admits he might have to move down the Australian batting line-up in order to ease his heavy workload.

The all-rounder has opened the batting for his country in Tests since 2009, but he didn't initially bowl too often due to injury concerns. However, now that his injury woes are over, he has taken on some extra bowling responsibility. During the recent tour to Sri Lanka he sent down 75 overs in the three Tests and had plenty of success. On the flip side, his batting suffered and he scored just 85 runs at an average of 17.40.

Watson, though, feels he might have to shift down the order.

"My role in the team has changed," he told Australia's The Daily Telegraph.

"I have additional bowling demands and I do have to consider whether my body will be able to handle it.

"I need to think about what will be the best for the team, and how to get the best out of myself, moving ahead.

"I will continue to talk to [captain] Michael Clarke about it, but having just gone through the Sri Lanka series with that extra workload, this is the time I am thinking about it more."
