The MTV Movie Awards 2013 had a lot of musical moments and one of the highlights of the evening was Selena Gomez's performance of her new single "Come and Get It."

It was Selena's debut performance of her new song and she owned the stage with some JLo inspired moves. Looking like a native Arabian, she was dressed in a red dress and busted her moves on stage in front of the large crowd.

Selena's new single is set to transform the singer into an even mature performer. After her split from Justin Bieber, the songstress seems to have completely moved on and is in a happier place now in her career and personal life.

"I think it's going to take her to the next level... She's got some really cool like ethnic influence, kind of tribally dance drums and stuff like that. I kind of feel she's going to be like a new JLo kind of thing," Jason Evigan who collaborated with Selena said about the singer's new song.

After taking up a mature role in "Spring Breakers," Selena is also taking it to the next level with regards to her career in music. There is certainly a lot of things in store for Selena and her fans for the rest of 2013.

However, although there are a lot of positive things to celebrate about her performance at the MTV Movie Awards, Selena has also come under fire after her alleged "culturally insensitive" performance.

"The bindi is not just some fashion accessory you can throw on," a fan wrote in a post.

"Selena Gomez, take that bindi of (sic) your head, cultural appropriation is not cute," another one commented.

"Leave Bindis for Indian women," and another said.

The singer has yet to comment on her latest criticisms.
