Following a tumultuous season last year with Red Bull, German racing driver Sebastian Vettel has decided to move to Ferrari. Recently, Vettel has spoken about missing out on advice from his compatriot and racing legend Michael Schumacher about his decision to join to Ferrari.

The 27-year-old Vettel revealed that signing up with Ferrari was the hardest decision he has ever faced in his life. What made it tough for him was the fact that he couldn’t ask for advice from Schumacher, who raced for Ferrari from 1996 to 2006, when the time came that he had to make a choice, The Telegraph reported.

Schumacher is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program after suffering severe brain injuries during a skiing accident back in 2013. Little information is disseminated to the general public regarding the latest condition about Schumacher’s health, but his manager Sabine Kehm insisted in an interview with RTL Television that the 46-year-old retired Formula One racer continues to make progress, though the prognosis remains unknown. Even though Schumacher is no longer seen in the paddock of the Grand Prix events, he always remains on Vettel’s mind.

Vettel said that there were times when he was able to talk to Schumacher about his desire to join one of the most successful teams in Formula One. He added that those were sometimes serious and not-so-serious discussions. Vettel said that Schumacher has always been very “helpful and honest.” He knew that Schumacher will undoubtedly explain “the business side of things, his experience, the lessons he learnt.”

“I think I missed that part a lot simply because I knew he would tell me the truth of what he thinks,” Vettel spoke of Schumacher. “The honesty he had in giving me advice over the years is probably the most special bit about it.”

Vettel signed with Ferrari in a three-year contract that will see him racing for the team until 2017. Since joining the team, the four-time world champion has been racing in great form. He won third place at the Australian Grand Prix and recently concluded Chinese Grand Prix. Vettel also clinched his first victory for Ferrari in the second round at the Malaysian Grand Prix, ending Ferrari’s 34-race drought.
