Hand of God over Scotland

Based on cloud appearances, God is making his presence felt in Europe these days. First, on Jan 24, a lenticular cloud that looks like God's hand was seen in Madeira, Portugal. On Friday, another cloud with similar appearance was spotted in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Some residents also saw it as a hand of God, while others thought it looked more like a fire-breathing dragon. Some said it looked like a Klingon ship. A 26-year-old doctor, Tom Foster, captured the lenticular clouds while he was taking photos of the Scottish capital city, reports the New York Post.

“When I first saw the cloud I knew it looked spectacular but it wasn’t until after I took the picture and looked at it on my camera that I started to see the unusual shape it made,” says Foster who posted the photo on Facebook. He adds that people see different things in it.

“I’ve had hundreds of comments and messages from people suggesting different things,” the young doctor and amateur photographer says.

He shared the photo on his Facebook page Spectacular Edinburgh. Another Facebook page, which reshared the photo, notes that the city is trending worldwide because of the dragon-in-the-sky photo. The image was liked 9,500 times, while it was shared almost 2,500 times.

Lindsay Swan is skeptical and thinks the photo was two images merged together using Photoshop. She asks, “If the sky was really like this then I’m sure we would have seen similar shots of this before now?” But Laura Giordano affirms that she had snapped a similar image on Feb 1 while waiting on the bus home on Princess Street. Giordano says she didn’t use any filter on the photo.

Sarah Davies asks “where’s the dragon’s head and which part is the breathing fire and since when is a dragon associated with Scots? Wales, yes, England yes, but not Scotland.” However, she acknowledges it is a lovely picture.

Like Swan, Zee Yule thinks it is a completely manipulated image and chides Foster for sharing it. David Gibson also has the same opinion that it is the result of a Photoshop.

Hannah Miley agrees that the dark head in the middle looks like a dragon’s head with long wings underneath it in flight. Miley comments it is such a compelling image. Michael Garvey confirms it was the sunset he saw too on the same day.

For Nelson Wilson, the image has political undertones. “Looks like Scotland will get its independence. Didn’t Merlin predict the Red Dragon would defeat the White Dragon? How appropriate that the Red Dragon should appear over the Scottish Capital!”

In a note to International Business Times-Australia, Foster writes "It is not a composite but a single image," to dispel speculations that the picture was Photoshopped.
