'Saturday Night Live' Gets a Taste of 'Harry Potter' and his Famous Antics [VIDEO]
Mixed reviews are in for "Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe during his stint on "Saturday Night Live."
The question is, did he bring the magic from Hogwarts or did "The Woman in Black" manage to suck all his happy feelings away and cause the show a blunder?
To say the least, Daniel did one hell of a job. He acted out parts with a fairly workable American accent and he even made fun of his own "Potter" past. It was the writers of the show who did such a blunder. No puns and no jokes were as half as funny as they were before and unluckily Daniel Radcliffe had to be pulled along down this spiral. Still, who can blame the British actor?
"It is so great to be here hosting Saturday Night Live," shared Daniel on the first part of the show.
"When I agreed to host SNL one of the biggest questions I had was how much should we do with Harry Potter, taking into account that over the years there have been multiple Harry Potter sketches on the show," said Radcliffe.
"So I said if at all possible, let's not do one. No one wants to see Dumbledore working at Harry Pottery Barn (Dumbledore walks on stage, then walks off in disappointment). And if we can, let's not do Harry Pothead (Harry Pothead walks out, and walks away with a shrug)."
The young celebrity rounded up the show in a variety of stints each showing a wacky side of him and despite the obvious way the writers were unable to stem out laughs, Daniel still pulled off the show. If there's one person who made a total laugh out off the show and caused a blunder then it would be the other guest star, Lana Del Ray.
"While the show itself was certainly worthy of criticism (as was musical guest Lana Del Rey) it's hard to rag on 'The Woman in Black star', who gave it his all in spite of working with some rather subpar material," shared Aly Semigran of Entertainment Weekly.
Even the critics agree it was the writers of the show who made it look like a total flop.
The "Harry Potter" star proved he wasn't only good on film when he jumped off onto Broadway with "Equus" and starred in another show "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.' Daniel is immensely talented and his stint on "Saturday Night Live" won't be his downfall. Give a quick review on his performance on "SNL" and be the judge of the show's writing or the actor's acting.
