The San Francisco Giants are back on top of the baseball. Their hero this year is a familiar face going once again to star pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who shut out the Kansas City Royals in the final five innings to help his team to a 3-2 Game 7 victory to clinch the best-of-seven series, 4-3 in the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series.

Bumgarner's excellent effort gave the Giants franchise its eight MLB championship overall (1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954) and two in the last five seasons (2010, 2012, 2014).

San Francisco did it in hostile territory becoming the first team since the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates to win a Game 7 road game to clinch the MLB World Series title.

Michael Morse had hits in the second inning (sacrifice fly) and fourth inning (single) that led to a pair of Pablo Sandoval scores with the last one the tie-breaking run as the Giants held on to the 3-2 lead the rest of the way. Brandon Crawford made it 2-0 at the top of the second before Aaron Gordon and Omar Infante tied the game after that inning.

Sandoval was credited with three hits while Brandon Belt and Hunter Pence had two hits each.
