The Kansas City Royals edged the San Francisco Giants on the road, 3-2 to grab a 2-1 series lead in the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series.

Alcides Escobar scored two times in the crucial Game 3 victory even as Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer had RBO hits to win back-to-back games in the championship series. Games 4 and 5 are still in San Francisco, where the Giants need to win at least one more game to send the series back to Kansas City.

Four Royals relievers had four hitless innings and with Kansas City grabbing the 3-0 lead before the bottom of the sixth, the Royals were in control for much of the game. The Giants sent in two runs of their own in the sixth but couldn't crack K.C's pitchers the rest of the way.

Greg Holland was credited the saved for the game and tied the most (7 total) in a postseason in MLB history. San Francisco's Tim Hudson, at 39 years old, has his first World Series start and allowed 3 runs and 4 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.
