Out of all the surveys and analysis conducted in the U.S., Apple's iPhone 6 Plus has come out as the best phablet released thus far. Notably, the iPhone 6 Plus trumped even the monster Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Not to forget, the Note 4 got excellent reviews from across the globe. Plus, the advanced S-Pen stylus that comes with the phablet is of great use for both work and play. Nonetheless, the slump in the market share has put Samsung in a tricky situation. So as to mitigate the mounting problems, Samsung has come up with a plan to release a Snapdragon 810-powered Galaxy Note 4.

Going by the latest research data, the Apple iPhone 6 Plus has amassed a total of 41 percent of all phablet sales pertaining to the U.S. Apparently, this figure was calculated based on the sales inputs between August and October. The aforesaid 41 percent is a huge market share and for Samsung to catch up with Apple will be a Herculean task, nonetheless. But then, an anonymous source has tipped SamMobile that Samsung is preparing a counterattack on Apple, reports BGR.

According to the anonymous tipster, the South Korean conglomerate is testing a new variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The new model powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor will be released in home-country South Korea. The difference between the upcoming Note 4 with Snapdragon 810 SoC and the current model with Snapdragon 805 chip is that, the latest Snapdragon 810 utilises a 64-bit octa-core CPU. Meanwhile, the current Note 4 model uses a quad-core CPU.

On the other hand, Samsung also offers an additional processor choice i.e. octa-core (Samsung Exynos 5433) processor. However, this Exynos-powered device is not widely available. It is worth mentioning that, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chip is still not ready for mass production. In any case, if Qualcomm could make its chipset available by early 2015, Samsung should be able to take advantage and build the new Galaxy Note 4 variant.

Speaking of the issues pertaining to the Snapdragon 810's mass production, reports from Korea states that, Qualcomm's chipsets are experiencing massive overheating problems at certain voltages. Because of this problem, the latest chips were forced into unwanted throttling, contributing to performance-based problems. In addition to Note 4's new variant, the upcoming Snapdragon 810 chipset is reported to be part of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4, among others, says GSM Arena.

At this point, the Snapdragon 810-powered Galaxy Note 4 is reportedly exclusive to South Korea and there is no official information available to ascertain the release in other countries. What do you think of a Snapdragon 810-powered Note 4? Will Samsung be able to regain its lost market share from Apple's iPhone 6 Plus? Feel free to leave a comment.
