Samsung’s 360-degree spherical VR camera, the Gear 360 has been listed by online retailer B&H Photo Video at US$349.99 (AU$464). The retailer has listed the device under “New Item.”

The Samsung Gear 360 is not on sale now. The product on B&H Photo Video is still marked as “Coming soon” without any specific release date.

Samsung announced the Gear 360 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 at Barcelona this year, alongside the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

The Gear 360 features two 15MP dual lens camera sensors. The front and the rear camera units capture 180 degree images, creating a complete 360 viewing experience.

The f/2.0 lenses have 195-degree viewing range. This results in 15 degrees of overlap, helping in stitching two images.

The spherical VR camera can capture 360-degree high resolution 3840x1920 videos recorded at 30 frames per s econd and 30-megapixel spherical photos.

The camera works in both single and dual lens modes.

The device is compatible with Google Street View app and supports microSD card up to 128GB. Users can capture spherical photos and instantly share and publish them on Google Street View.

The Gear 360 works with Samsung’s most coveted top-of-the-line smartphones including the latest Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.

The Gear 360 can be paired with any of the aforementioned smartphones via Bluetooth. The images can be seamlessly transferred to compatible smartphones as well as PCs, using Wi-Fi Direct.

According to The Verge review, the image quality of the Gear 360 is as good as Theta S , but the Nikon is still the winner.

Last month, LG also announced its compact spherical 360 degree camera with two 200-degree 13-megapixel sensors, the LG 360 Cam. Meanwhile, GoPro officially unveiled its anticipated six-camera 'Omni' VR rig.
