Samsung is gearing up to the launch of its latest flagship device, the Galaxy S7, in early 2016. The smartphone has been on the grapevine for quite some time now, and speculated features indicate the Galaxy S7 will come packed with top-class specs that are a major overhaul from its predecessors.

Two variants with microSD card slot

The rumour mill suggests that the smartphone will be unveiled in two different size options - the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. It is also speculated that both devices are going to house a microSD slot for extra storage, a feature Samsung skipped in the Galaxy S6 series and even in Galaxy Note 5.

Latest rumours reveal that AT&T has already started testing the Samsung Galaxy S7 variants. The two high-end models are expected to be running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Top-to-bottom curved display

With Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, Samsung may introduce a super AMOLED display boasting 4K resolution. This time, the Korean giant may also opt for a smaller 5.2-inch screen for the flat-screened Galaxy S7 alongside a curved screen 5.7-inch Galaxy S7 edge, reports Techno Buffalo. Instead of left and right curves, the Galaxy S7 edge will feature a top-to-bottom curved screen.

Processor

According to a report by Tech Times, Samsung has plans to unveil the Galaxy S7 with different processors. Reports suggest the company will opt for the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for customers in the U.S. and China, while the other variant, powered by the recently unveiled 64-bit octa-core Exynos 8890 SoC, will be available internationally, including the Korean, Japanese and European markets. SamMobile reported that there might be another Exynos 7422 powered variant which will be released in India.

ClearTouch

With the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, Samsung is also expected to introduce its own version of the ground-breaking 3D Force Touch technology. The company has collaborated with Synaptic to develop a pressure-sensitive technology called ClearTouch. This force-sensing display technology, similar to that of the latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus technology, will provide solutions for variable speeds in zooming, panning, scrolling, unlocking, right-click mouse behaviour and image editing.

Camera and Accessories

The Korean tech giant is also expected to use the highly appreciated 23 MP IMX300 sensor made by Sony for its upcoming flagship device. The camera sensor, which is used in the Xperia Z5 line of smartphones, is highly rated by industry experts at DxOMark Labs. As reported by SamMobile, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be accompanied by a bagful of accessories including a S View Cover, Glitter Cover, Clear View Cover and a Keyboard Cover.
