A lot of conjectures are doing rounds surrounding the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S7. Previous reports hinted at the device’s launch during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Some fresh reports are now saying a different story about the launch date of the alleged Galaxy S7.

According to PCAdvisorUK, the device is expected to release at a Samsung press meeting to be held on Feb. 21, a day before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicks off in Barcelona from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25. Pre-orders of the phone will take place between Feb. 21 and March 3 and will go on sale from March 4 to 17.

The latest gossip about the phone’s release during February makes more sense since the South Korean chaebol has always used the MWC conference as the launch pad for unveiling its Galaxy S phones, except for the Galaxy S4. The S4 was unveiled a couple of weeks after the MWC trade show in 2013, reports CNET.

In the past, the flagship S-series always got a 5.1-inch screen size and not bigger than that. However, new reports have emerged that suggest that the S7 could have a slightly bigger screen size at 5.2-inch.

Similar to the Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, the Galaxy S7 will sport its own version of a 3D Touch Screen technology. It allows you to delve deeper into various functions in the phone by pressing the icons on the screen harder. The technology establishes a more interactive and tactile way of communication between the user and the phone.

You could also expect an iris scanner in the device that will allow you to lock and unlock its screen. There are possibilities of a microSD card slot in the device so that you can enjoy extra memory space by inserting an SD card in addition to what the phone’s in-built memory has to offer.

Some latest reports suggest that the Galaxy S6 smartphone costs £599 (approx. AU$1248), but the Galaxy S7 will cost more at £649 (approx. AU$1352). However, we will know about the exact price once the phone is declared officially.
