Fresh speculations indicate Samsung is prepping up Galaxy S7 Mini to take on the iPhone SE, Apple’s upcoming 4-inch smartphone. The rumour mill suggests the Galaxy S7 Mini will be coming with high-end specs, not mid-range as earlier reported.

The Apple iPhone SE (Special Edition) is heavily speculated to be launched on March 21. Sam Mobile has reported that a Taiwanese source has revealed to it the Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini will be coming with high-end specifications and features.

In 2015, the rumour mill was expecting Samsung to release the Galaxy S6 Mini smartphone, but it did not come to pass. The last smartphone carrying “Mini” for its flagship smartphone was the Galaxy S5 Mini, which came out in 2014.

Compared to Galaxy S5 flagship, the Galaxy S5 Mini came with midrange specs. Even older devices like Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy S3 Mini were launched with modest specs. However, rumors are rife that the Galaxy S7 Mini will be featuring advanced specs like the Galaxy S7 flagship.

The Galaxy S7 Mini is expected to be powered either by Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 chipset that is present under the hood of the Galaxy S7. The SoC will be coupled by 3 GB of RAM whereas the larger sibling has 4 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7 will be packed with a 4.6-inch screen that will support an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini will be fitted with a 12 MP camera. The thickness of the device is speculated as 9.9 mm. Samsung is currently silent on the existence of the Galaxy S7 Mini, but it is likely to reveal after Apple announces the iPhone SE.

The iPhone SE that will come with features like A9 SoC, 1 GB of RAM, Touch ID sensor, NFC, and 12 MP shooter will be priced around $400 (AU$536) to $500 (AU5670). The Galaxy S7 Mini is expected to be available within the same price range.
