Samsung has uploaded the S Health App to the Play Store. This move by the mobile devices brand now allows users to update their app to the latest version via direct actions coursed through the Play Store.

The S Health is available exclusively for users of select Samsung mobile phones. It comes with the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge upon purchase. Now, users of other Samsung devices can also download and update the S Health. However, it requires Android 5.0, which can only be found in newer devices including Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Therefore, only selected users who have received the Lollipop update can enjoy the said application. The latest version of the app also comes with a new Material Design interface.

The S Health app allows users to link wearable devices, such as Samsung Gear to their mobile phones or tablets so that they can track their health and improve their lifestyle. Specific activities than the S Health can facilitate include measuring the heart rate, counting steps made daily, gauging stress levels, accounting sleeping patterns and computing daily calorie intake. Aside from tracking services, the app also allows users to record fitness goals, measure their progress and oversee how they are doing with their planned health regimen.

App proprietors have been using the Play Store as a tool for distributing their products. This allows users to update their apps, without having to wait for device updates. The decision of Samsung to bring the S Health to the Play Store may be an intervention that can help maintain control over these business.
