“Rodea The Sky Soldier” was first believed to be an entry for the Wii but soon after, it was announced that it would be made for current gen consoles, the Wii U and 3DS. After missing in action for years, it was announced that the game will launch in September, but publisher NIS America moved the release date again.

Earlier this week, NIS America announced that the release date for “Rodea The Sky Soldier” will be moved to Nov. 10 in North America and on Nov. 13 in Europe. The publisher stated that both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles have "ongoing technical difficulties," so the release date has to be moved.

When it does finally come to North America and Europe, “Rode The Sky Soldier” for the Nintendo 3DS will ship with a special launch day edition. Polygon notes that the launch day edition will come in a collectible box with a limited edition soundtrack. Wii U owners in North America on the other hand, will get a reversible cover along with the game.

“Rodea The Sky Soldier” is developed with the special features of the Wii U in mind. Destructoid reports that the motion controls found in console are different from standard button configuration. They added that the transition between the two console schemes played a big part in the development of the game.

Unlike other flight-based action games, like “Kid Icarus,” flying in Rodea plays differently. With a press of a button, Rodea will jump up into the air to hover for a few seconds. During this short hover, players need to target where Rodea is headed to next. Generally, the aim is to find an object for Rodea to jump on. If the player fails to find an object within a given time, Rodea will fall and the game is over.
