The wait for Rockstar’s “GTA V” on PC was extremely long and arduous, but after a number of false starts, the game released to much acclaim on April 14. The PC version of “GTA V” launched with a number of advanced features, including support for 4K, higher framerates and more, Rockstar has now announced that one of the PC versions most coveted features is headed to console.

The PC port also included a feature called the Rockstar Video Editor, which allowed users to create elaborately edited videos and share them with friends. Rockstar made the announcement on its official website, and also confirmed that the feature would be skipping Xbox 360 and PS3, due to the additional processing power required.

“The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with ‘GTAV’ on the older systems, but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready. We are also planning to bring The Lab radio station to all four consoles in a forthcoming title update. Please stay tuned for more information,” read the statement.

Aside from the Rockstar Video Editor, the developer promised that it would continue to support the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of “GTA V” for as long as possible. However, the studio noted that at some point, introducing new features could run the risk of causing instability on the older systems, and said it would not compromise performance to add new features.

The developer went on to add that it was working on another update for “GTA Online Heists,” designed to add a slew of new toys for gamers to play around with. Rockstar also tried to temper expectations that entirely new Heist missions might be on the way, by explaining that Heists was a massive undertaking, a statement evidenced by the mode’s extended development cycle and numerous delays.

Despite the delays of the PC version and the launch of Heists, “GTA V has sold extremely well, and met with widespread critical praise on every platform. PC Gamer rated the title a 92 out of 100 in its review, praising the game’s immense scope, detailed world and engaging gameplay.
