Starkeema Greenidge, 28, from Harlem, filed a lawsuit against MAC lipstick alleging that Rihanna endorsed lipstick - RiRi Woo- caused her the incurable disease herpes.

She told New York Daily News that all she wanted that night was for her lips to look hot but not burnt.

She said that she attended Rihanna's Barclays Center concert on May 7. As part of MAC's promotion for RiRi Woo , the company built a popup shop in the concert and encourage audience to sample the lipstick for free.

Ms. Greenidge's lawsuit stated that that a Mac representative applied the ruby-red lipstick to her upper lip and told her to "press her lips together and spread the lipstick around."

But unfortunately, the representative was not instructed by MAC to use a new lipstick tube for each of the people sampling the product.

According to Ms. Greenidge's lawsuit, "MAC didn't use a fresh or new lipstick tune, but rather one that had been used for other patrons."

In an interview with New York Daily News, Ms. Greenidge said she worked as a waitress and the herpes caused her to be absent from work and hence suffer deductions in her salary. " I wasn't able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money.

Ms. Greenidge said she filed the lawsuit against MAC in Manhattan Supreme Court primarily to compel Mac to prioritize hygiene in their future company events. She said that the company should require their representatives to use disposable tubes or swabs to apply the lipstick.

Mr. Greenidge is adamant to teach MAC a lesson saying "This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done."

It looked like, this case was not isolated in as far as lipstick manufacturers are concern. MAC is not the only popular lipstick company guilty of harming its patrons.

It is to be recalled that FDA conducted two studies to sample 400 lipstick shades for harmful lead content in 2009 and 2012. Both studies found an alarming figure - 7.19 parts per million - contained lead from the 400 products tested.

The FDA's 2012 review came-up of the top 20 lead containing lipstick as follows.
