Dan Harmon, co-creator of "Rick and Morty," took to social media on Saturday to instigate a tweet thread in which he pored over the third season’s continued delay. Recently, several reports cited an internal strife between Harmon and Justin Roiland as the reason for the delay. Harmon shot them down.

Through a series of tweets, Harmon said the co-creators have been "tail-chasing perfectionism" and most likely went overboard with their "over thinking." Harmon proceeded to comfort fans by asking them to "(stop) worrying about the content, because, the reason over thought slows you down is, you just do way more versions of stuff than needed," before promising "just another good season of RAM."

Dan Harmon on the delay: 'We were chasing perfectionism'

Harmon also asked fans to ignore "click bait articles" about his alleged fight with Roiland. "Like I said it breaks my heart to think of some kid reading one of these click bait pieces after all the energy that kid has put into fandom," read one of his tweets followed by, "As I speak, more articles are coming out about me and Justin fighting. Because it's a less boring reason for a season to take long."

Strangely enough, the outspoken Harmon told fans at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year that his persistent quarrels with Roiland caused the lengthy delay between seasons 2 and 3. "(Roiland and I) have fights all the time and then we have fights about why we’re having fights, well, we didn’t fight during season 2, that’s why it’s taking longer! All this fighting! So OK, let’s stop fighting," Harmon said.

A few weeks later, the 44-year-old writer/producer wrote on Twitter: "I tell you, as a self destructively honest guy, Justin and I have literally never fought. Season three isn’t late because of 'fighting'. In fact, ironically, maybe THAT’s the delay-cause. We respect and terrify each other and always want the other to be happy."

On the bright side, fans have already been treated to a spectacular "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere which randomly aired on April Fools' Day. Titled "The Rickshank Rickdemption," it was arguably one of the best episodes in the show's history. Adult Swim's impromptu release saw steady progression from season 2 storylines. After the Galactic Federation invaded Earth, genius siblings Summer and Morty summoned the Council of Ricks in pursuit of their imprisoned grandfather. Rick C-137, in trademark Rick fashion, managed to transport his mind into one of the other Ricks to crash the meeting of the council before killing the rest of his doppelgangers.

Rick and Morty season 3 release date: July, 2017?

To promote the third season of the animated series, a giant Rick is going to reportedly drive across the United States this summer in his "RickMobile." Rick and Morty season 3 episode 2 titled "Rickmancing the Stone" will air sometime over the summer. If the previous season is anything to go by, episode two could air in July.
