If you think that all celebrities are as open as Lindsay Lohan or Mel Gibson about their drug troubles, well think again. There are other stars who try their best to keep their personal lives out of the public eye.

Most of the celebrities that we feature here are those who quietly enter a treatment program until they eventually recover and make a comeback under the spotlight without you even knowing they were not well for some time.

So here is a quick list of the celebrities who you did not expect to be secret yet recovering addicts.

Demi Moore. Not everyone knew that Demi only stopped using cocaine in the 1980s when the director of "St. Elmo's Fire" told her that he would fire her if she would not stop.

Daniel Radcliffe. Who would ever say that this 'Harry Potter' star was an alcoholic? He admitted it himself in one interview that there came a point in his life that he became severely alcohol-dependent.

Eva Mendes. This hot actress led the headlines way in 2008 for her reported substance abuse which made her enter rehabilitation. No one ever thought she was battling an addiction but she said that it is never too late to start over. It takes a lot of fear and guts to get better.

Nicole Richie. Just when you thought this young mother was enjoying a new role in her life, it was revealed that she had a very serious record of drug addiction, particularly to a pain medication called Vicodin.

Cory Montieth. This handsome "Glee" star was such a troubled kid during the earlier days of his life that he even robbed his own family to sustain his own addictions. He only stopped when he was finally caught by a loved one in the act and he got into rehab at the young age of 19.

Winona Ryder. Her addiction to a oxycodone was only discovered when she was caught shoplifting at Saks Fifth Avenue with items that amount to about $5,000.

Jamie Lee Curtis. She proudly says that her greatest achievement in life was finally overcoming her addiction to painkillers.

It is not that the fans of these celebrities should feel turned off of their idols, but instead see their courage and strength as a mighty inspiration to overcome your own demons.
