Melissa Reid hopes the low expectations will push her to greater things at the Ladies British Masters this weekend.

The past few months have been an emotional rollercoaster for the 24-year-old from Derby as her mother died in an accident in Germany in May. However, she put her heartache to one side to win the Prague Golf Masters a few weeks later.

Reid will be competing on home soil this weekend as the Ladies British Masters will take place at the Buckinghamshire club in Denham, and she hopes the extra support will spur her on.

"It's great playing in front of a home crowd," she said. "Hopefully plenty of fans will come out to watch and I will have quite a few family and friends around during the week also.

"I wasn't expecting to win in Prague, but it was obviously extremely special. I'm sure it helped that my expectations were not too high - and they are not this week either, so perhaps that will be a good thing again."

Solheim Cup star Reid will tee off at 9.10a on Thursday alongside Ladies European Tour of Merit leader Carly Booth and Curtis Cup winner Charley Hull.
