The upcoming team-based tactical shooter “Rainbow Six: Siege” is apparently not going to have a single-player campaign. The announcement made at EGX proves that the game will focus more on delivering a high-end multiplayer experience.

A Ubisoft developer broke the news during an EGX 2015 panel, What Culture reports. The move is akin to DICE’s recent removal of the single-player campaign for “Star Wars Battlefront.” However, Ubisoft did not state any reason for the removal of said game mode.

The good news for players is that there is another way for them to prepare or get the game’s learning curve before venturing into online matches. During the EGX 2015 panel, the game’s art director, Scott Mitchell stated that players will have access to a training session. Players will get to experience the different tactics and devices in the games. They’ll also be able to go up against AI-controlled enemies with other players. As for map selection, players can play against AI units from all the available maps within the multiplayer mode.

The best Ubisoft will offer for a single-player experience is the ability of players to fully customise matches against AI opponents. Mitchell added that there will be a narrative in the game, but since there are no single player missions for the campaign, it is very likely this will be more of a short story for the training mode.

Ubisoft explained why they removed the single-player campaign in a statement to Cinema Blend. The developer said that its primary focus for the game is to provide a compelling multiplayer mode. It also said that future plans for a single player mode will be revealed in the future.

“The creative vision for Rainbow Six Siege has always been strongly focused on a compelling cooperative and multiplayer experience. The game supports solo play when playing Terrorist Hunt offline & online and we will provide further details on single-player content in the near future,” said Ubisoft to Cinema Blend.

It’s good to know that players will have another way to play the game when the servers are down. Connection problems are common among players, so a single player mode is needed so that the game will still be playable with poor connection.

“Rainbow Six: Siege” is due out on Dec. 1. The game will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
