A New Zealand taxi cab passenger has been caught on film, lashing out racist remarks at the cab driver who was born in Pakistan.

The racist passenger can be seen in the video telling the driver of an Invercargill cab, Tariq Humayun to "f__k off back to where you came from" after the cab driver picked him up on July 27. After hearing the racist comments, the driver remained calmed and continued doing his job.

As the passenger ended the trip early, he refused to pay the fare of $7. The passenger said "I'll pay you your $7 when you tell me that you'll piss off back to where you came from."

He continued, "You shouldn't be in New Zealand in the first place... We don't require your Muslim bullshit in this country."

Mr. Humayun told media that he was very upset about the incident and the passenger's offensive and racist rant. He moved his family from Pakistan to New Zealand in 2002 to have a better future.

According to president of the Federation of Islamic Associations, Dr. Anwar Ghani, the racial abuse suffered by Mr. Humayon was unfortunate and not very common.

In recent months, racism was a common theme in local headlines. Just last week, three Melbourne passengers were facing charges for a racist rant against French tourist in an incident that happened in November 2012.

Another incident involving racism in Sydney was captured in video in June and was posted in YouTube. In what seems to be a never-ending battle with racism, a 50-year-old woman harasses a schoolboy of Asian descent in a bus with verbal profanities. Both were passengers in a public bus and the video was taken by a fellow passenger who chose to be anonymous.

Police investigation and apology from racist passenger

The racist rant of a New Zealand taxi passenger against a Pakistani-born driver is currently under investigation.

Thanks to video in Mr. Humayun's iPhone, police captured Gregory Shuttleworth. Since his arrest, Mr. Shuttleworth has publicly apologised for his racist rant and behaviour.

Police released information about the case on July 29 regarding the racism case. Authorities said that Mr. Shuttleworth must have been drunk during that time.

After capturing the racist rant of the New Zealand passenger, the cab driver went to the police station to show the video and report the encounter.

The racist passenger apologised to the public for his actions towards the taxi cab driver on July 28. He knew it was wrong and did not look good after watching the video.

When asked why he said those racist remarks to the driver, Mr. Shuttleworth said that he has been watching too much television about events overseas. He said he allowed himself to rant and knew now it shouldn't have happened.

The New Zealand passenger charged with racism has contacted the cab company to apologise in person but the company refused to talk to him.

Cab driver doesn't want to work anymore

The cab driver, Mr. Humayon, revealed he doesn't want to drive a cab anymore. He was still shaken and traumatised about the racist rant although he remained calm throughout the abuse. Mr. Humayon said the incident was the worst abusive experience he had in his five years as a cab driver in Auckland and Invercargill.
