If you are looking forward to PlanetSide 2 when it rolls out on the PS4, make sure that the friends you want to play with are sticking to the same gaming device as you.

PlanetSide 2 is rolling out for both the PS4 and PC this year, but developments are now pointing to the two devices having distinct servers.

"[PS4 players] are going to be on separate servers right now," said Sony Online Entertainment's Adam Clegg in a report quoted by VG 24/7. "PC players will still have their servers that we have up and running right now and then we'll create PlayStation 4 servers for the PlanetSide 2 players."

Considering the difference in servers, there's a big possibility that cross-play between the PS4 and the PC may not be possible, though this has not yet been brought up nor confirmed by Sony.

According to VG 24/7, the decision may seem to stem from the way that the game is played--controller versus keyboard and mouse--but as per Clegg, a level playing field and a same experience for all seems to be the goal of the server separation.

DualShock 4 light bar stays on

Though this may not serve as a distraction or mean anything to most gamers, don't be surprised if, when you start playing with your PS4 this holiday season, the light bar on your DualShock 4 won't turn off--because it's not meant to.

In a tweet, Sony president Shuhei Yoshida responded on the query stating that no, the light bar can't be switched off, even if you want to in order to save battery.

For those who will be buying the PlayStation Eye, the light bar is necessary as it will work in tandem to detect your motion, in the same manner that the Move controller operates.

Gamers who won't require the PlayStation Eye can also keep track of battery life with the light bar. GameSpot adds that games like Killzone: Shadow Fall will make use of the light bar to indicate the player's health.

Apart from the PS4 and DualShock 4, Sony will also be rolling out charging stations for the DualShock 4. The device is currently still a prototype, but it is expected to be released some time after the PS4 is rolled out.

DICE sees mouse-keyboard setup for PS4 a possibility?

Battlefield 4 is one of the upcoming next-gen AAA games, and one that will be coming out for the PS4. What's noted now is that DICE may be interested in having a PC-like control setup built for the PS4.

"We have mouse and keyboard support for the PC obviously, but I can't speak now specifically for next gen consoles," said Aleksander Grønda of DICE. "But if it makes sense in the Battlefield universe, for a Battlefield game, we'll consider it."

According to the report, the plan would be hinged on the demand for the support, so it will depend on whether or not future PS4 gamers would find the controller to be lacking in terms of playing Battlefield 4.
