The avid followers of American television show “Prison Break” have received their early Christmas gift as the show is expected to make an early 2016 comeback with its fifth season.

The lead character of the show, Michael Scofield played by Wentworth Miller, is brought back to life in the upcoming season after more than six years of being away from the limelight. Back in August, Fox announced that Prison Break is set to return for a limited series, UK’s Glamour Magazine reported.

However, the latest buzz about the show is that the fifth season of “Prison Break” is now expected to premiere in March 2016. The big decision by Fox is in honor of the network's big anniversary. Additionally, the channel is planning to revive its other television series as well.

It was at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills in August that Fox's CEO, Gary Newman, announced that both the brothers of the show, Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, will come back to reprise their roles.

“I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don’t think [executive producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience,” Express.co.uk quoted co-Chairman and CEO Dana Walden as saying.

The upcoming fifth season will comprise of 10 episodes of "Prison Break." Wentworth Miller took to Instagram to announce his comeback in 2016.
