Kate Middleton had to give up some of her beauty routines during her second pregnancy for the baby’s sake. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly had to sacrifice spray tanning and other beauty products in order to keep her second baby healthy.

A source close to the Duchess tells US Weekly that "Kate is very cautious of products and treatments." Kate Middleton had to give up on spray tanning, especially St. Tropez spray tan treatments. According to the publication, the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan and would usually go for a weekly treatment to keep her glow. However, the mist from the treatment could endanger the life of her second baby when inhaled. So, the Duchess had to give that up since her “baby’s health comes first” the source adds. Instead, for a fresh tanned look on her cheeks, Kate uses Bobbi Brown’s DHA-free Shimmer Brick in Bronze and Nars blush in Orgasm.

The Duchess is also avoiding the use of beauty products that may contain potentially harmful retinoids, which are not recommended for use during pregnancy. The source tells the publication that Kate Middleton uses Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil on her face to treat fine lines or wrinkles. The source added the Duchess of Cambridge “continues to use rosehip oil in her daily skincare regiment,” which her mother Carole Middleton is also a fan of, since Kate loves the effect it has on her skin. According to the publication, the pregnant Kate also alternates the use of the rosehip oil at night with Lancome’s phthalate-free Genefique serum.

Spray tanning is not the only beauty regimen the Duchess had to sacrifice for her second baby’s health. Kate Middleton has been spotted on several occasions sporting a few streaks of grey hair. According to a previous report from the International Business Times Australia, the Duchess once gave fans a glimpse of her grey hair last month, when she visited Emma Bridgewater pottery factory in Stoke On Trent. The source said Kate considered changing her hair colour as the “toughest sacrifice” she had to make during her second pregnancy. Instead of using the chemical potion hair dye, the Duchess now opts to lather her hair with a vegetable-based dye redder. She has reportedly also given up the use of hair sprays for her baby’s sake.
