Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge will visit Margate in Kent on March 11, according to Hello! The Duchess of Cambridge’s love for the arts is well known and during her recent visit to Portsmouth she displayed her artistic side. She added her touch to a giant mural created at the construction site of the new sailing hub that is being built by Sir Ben Ainslie. This time around too her official visit in March is all about art exhibitions.

Kate, who is in the seventh month of her pregnancy, is still busy with her official work schedule. According to reports, she and Prince William are waiting to welcome their second child in April. Kensington Palace posted a series of tweets on Feb. 25 on its official Twitter page, confirming Kate Middleton's official visit to the seaside town. During her engagement, the 33-year-old duchess will visit the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery to view a special exhibition “Self: Image and Identity." The duchess is a patron of the National Portrait Gallery.

The exhibits will include the last self-portrait by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, which was recently acquired by the Gallery for the country. The painting was acquired in association with The Art Fund. Earlier known as the National Art Collections Fund, it is an independent membership-based British charity, which raises funds to aid the acquisition of artworks for the nation and does not receive funding from the government. It will be the second time that the royal will see the portrait as she had a private viewing at the National Portrait Gallery sometime earlier this month.

Kate, who has a degree in history of art from St. Andrew’s University, is also expected to meet some of the artists, whose works are on display. She will get to know how the Clore Learning Studio functions with the help the locals as well as meet local school children participating in an art project. She will then attend a reception to meet the employees and the supporters of the gallery.

The second engagement will see her visiting the Resort Studios in Margate where she will view an exhibition of photo montage of various personalities of the area and meet resident artists and interact with them. Known for her philanthropic work, Kate believes that young people who are having a hard time should take to art, according to Hello. The Kent visit is reportedly her last official visit before the duchess takes a break and goes on her maternity leave. Meanwhile, in a related development, the duchess was reportedly rushed to the hospital this week with extreme abdominal pain, a source told Star Magazine.
