'Power Rangers' Movie To Be ‘Mature But Still Playful’; Main Character Names And Details Revealed

The “Power Rangers” Reboot is going to bring back some familiar characters from the 1990s TV series in a new form. New Details about the characters in the movie have now surfaced online and they reveal the names and background information of the heroes.

The director Dean Israelite has described the movie as a “mature but still playful” take on the popular franchise, Collider reports. About seven TV shows of the franchise have been released so far and the first one was released in the year 1993. A movie from the franchise was also released in 1995.

The new report suggests that the forthcoming movie will be “going back to the beginning” and bringing back familiar characters from the TV series. Some of the heroes that will reportedly be seen in the movie include Jason, Kimberly, Trini, Billy and Zack.

Sources close to the movie have reportedly given some background information about each of these characters. Jason is said to be a 17 year old who has the “makings of someone great,” but will only be able to achieve something if he is able to “get out of his own way.” He was a legendary freshman quarterback who lost his way after a car accident.

Jason will be the leader of the superhero group in the “Power Rangers” reboot. Kimberly is someone who used to be “unconventionally cool” and is guarding a secret about why she was absent from school for six months. The character is said to now have a “rebel-without-a-cause, edgy” attitude.

Trini is “mysterious and extremely bright.” She really wants to be a part of a group, as she has become a loner because her parents keep moving and making her the “perpetual new girl to any school.” She is described as being “ self-sufficient, contemplative, but always observant.”

Billy is “smart and sweet” guy who has problems in social interactions. He hasn’t had many friends in his life and tends to gravitate towards Jason. Zack is a stark contrast to Billy and is described as always being the “life of the party.” He is charming and confident with women, but at the same time feels inferior to his peers because he lives in a trailer park with his single mum.

A report by TheMarySue notes that the character descriptions do not talk about how “beautiful” the female characters are and instead focuses on the attitudes and motivations of each character. The “Power Rangers” movie is slated to be released on Jan 13, 2017 in the U.S. and the release date in Australia hasn’t been revealed by the producers yet.
