It is known to many “Pokemon Go” players that there are some pokemon that are region-locked. This includes Tauros, Kangaskhan, Mr Mime, Farfetch’d, Heracross and Corsola. To be able to get these pokemon, players may have to spend some money.

Depending on which country the player is in, there are one of the six pokemon that they may be able to catch. In the US, players will be able to catch a wild Tauros. In Europe, players there will be able to get Mr Mime, while Australian players will be able to catch Kangaskhans in the wild. In Asia, specifically Hong Kong area, players will be able to catch Farfetch’d.

With the addition of the Gen 2 Pokemon lineup, two more region-locked Pokemon came. These are Heracross, which can be caught in South America, and Corsola, which can be caught in Africa.

As some players know, these Pokemon are literally out of reach. This is unless they are living in the areas wherein those Pokemon can be caught in the wild. On the other hand, there could be lucky players that would hatch one of these from the eggs. However, the chances of hatching region-locked Pokemon are slim.

While this may be saddening news for those who want to catch all 251 pokemon, there may be some good news and bad news from the people who datamine every update of “Pokemon Go.” According to the data or code of the game, Redditors have uncovered that the number of players who have actually caught these Pokemon is lacking. This means that these six region-locked pokemon are very rare.

In simplest terms, even if players go and travel to the places where these pokemon are region-locked, they may be disappointed not to catch any. However, this information is based on speculations due to lack of actual data from players. To increase chances of getting the likes of Mr Mime, Kangaskhan and Tauros, hatching eggs is the only way players can get their hands on these extremely rare, region-locked pokemon. This is until Niantic would make an update or an event in the future to be able to catch them.

From the original Gen 1 of pokemon, the Pokedex that came out had 150 pokemon included. With the recent and constant updates, “Pokemon Go” has added Gen 2. Now there are 251 pokemon to catch in the wild. Similar to the original GameBoy games, there are some pokemon that are really more elusive than others. On top of this, the legendary bird pokemon, including Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, have not shown up yet.
