“Pokemon Go” recently had an update that added 80 new pokemon from the Gen 2 family of the “Pokemon” series. Trainers are still on the mission to catch all of them in the real world. Beyond the new pokemon available, players can now find new items to help them evolve their pokemon faster. However, many players wonder where to find special items as they are new to the game.

The most notable items in the most recent update are the evolution items, which include Metal Coat (evolves Onix into Steelix and Scyther into Scizor), Dragon Scale (evolves Seadra into Kingdra), King’s Rock (evolves Poliwhirl into Politoed and Slowbro into Slowking), Sun Stone (evolves Gloom into Bellossom and Sunkern into Sunflora) and Up-Grade (evolves Porygon into Porygon 2.)

Beyond these evolution items, there are now new berries that can be dropped from the PokeStops. These two berries are Nanab and Pinap. The former can be used to slow down the movement of a pokemon to make it easier to catch. The latter, on the other hand, doubles the amount of candy from the Pokemon caught. However, players can only use one type of berry on a Pokemon when catching it.

Where to find the 'Pokemon Go' special items

These items, both evolution items and berries, can be found at PokeStops. Although the drop rate of the evolution items are way lower compared to the new berries, it is still one place where players can look in. Players have commented that evolution items are very rare. For instance, a Reddit user says that he has visited multiple PokeStops, 20 to be exact, and he was still not able to find any evolution items. On the other hand, he was able to receive some new berries from the stops.

Some players indicated that in their first daily spin, wherein players get extras items, they were able to receive an evolution item. On the other hand, some players say that they are more likely to get some of these special items once they have completed the seven-day streak for spinning PokeStops. However, the exact drop rates of these new special items are not known yet.

Multiple people suggests that the special items are now incorporated in the items a player receives when they level up. Therefore, it is best that players pay attention to where they are getting their special items to see if there is a pattern.
