It appears that Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard is a favourite sandwich target among students. Within the same month, two sandwiches had been thrown at her.

The latest incident happened on Thursday, May 30, when the PM was greeting school children at the Lyneham High School in Canberral. She was in the school to announce that the Australian Capital Territory signed up to the national schools funding reforms of the federal government.

Reports said a salami sandwich was thrown at Ms Gillrd. However, instead of get mad, she joked that the thrower probably thought she was hungry.

Earlier this month, a vegemite sandwich was also lobbed at the PM while she was at Marsden State High School. A 16-year-old student named Kyle Thompson was suspended from school for 15 days even if he denied he was the one who committed the misdemeanor. The youth was with a group of teenagers who jeered at Ms Gillard during the visit.

ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, who was with the PM during the school visit, said despite the incident, many high school students were excited to see Ms Gillard.

"Occasionally you are going to get a rogue student," The Australian quoted Ms Gallagher.

In the past, Ms Gillard had been involved in other embarrassing situations, involving not sandwiches but shoes.

In India, she slipped and fell down when her heels went into the soft soil.

She also left one shoe behind when she escaped a restaurant, which was charged by angry demonstrators.
