“Person of Interest” has come to an end. However, it seems that the series’ base of loyal fans and viewers are not yet ready to let go and move on. A spin-off is being called for, even sparking a petition on Change.org.

This hope was further strengthened during the show’s Season 5 episode, titled “Synecdoche.” In this episode, the team went to Washington D.C. in an attempt to protect the President. However, what they didn’t know is that it was Reese’s number that came up and that the Machine hired three more people to protect him by giving his number. What’s interesting is that the people the Machine hired were all previously numbers whom Reese saved. The group included ex-soldier Joey Durban (James Carpinello) from Season 1, technology buff bazzillionaire Logan Pierce (Jimmi Simpson) from Season 2 and con artistry expert Harper (Annie Ilonzeh) from Season 4, Cinema Blend shares.

The fact that the show projected that there was another team brought together by the Machine elsewhere in the country made hopes for a spin-off even more intense. Now , fans are expecting a similar show with the same blueprint, but with a different setting. Another good thing with this move is that they tied up the new group that the Machine is working with to the original flagship series, as shown in their encounter in “Synecdoche.”

When the producers were asked about a possible spin-off, Greg Plageman said that they should never say never, especially after shows like “24” and “The X-files” were also given unexpected comebacks, the Hall of Fame Magazine reports.

Fans have also created a petition on Change.Org called “Save Peron of Interest.” It aims to create a petition that will be sent to Netflix, Amazon, WGN and other decision makers to bring the program back. Specifically, it is asking for at least another season with the complete characters back together again. If not, the petition is asking for a spin-off that will showcase the flagship’s characters, as well. The petition talks about how great the show is in terms of representing the LGBT community and various forms of mental disorders.

“Person of Interest” ended with season 5 on June 21, 2016.
