The trailer shows Shaw escaping from her captors. Upon returning to her team, they become wary due to discrepancies with her behaviour. The team is suddenly not sure of her mental state, observing that Shaw is starting to be paranoid coupled with reckless behaviour. Apparently, her teammates thought that she was already dead. Her return is making them uneasy.

TVLine interviewed the cast on the impending end of the series during this season. They were asked how Season 5 is different from the previous one. Amy Acker, who plays Root, shared that there is dramatic difference between the two. Upon reading the script for “POI” Season 5, she sometimes questions if it is for a different show. Moreover, Jim Caviezel, who plays Reese, uses the “Return of the Jedi” meets “Empire Strikes Back” analogy to describe the plot.

In the same interview, the cast was asked about Shaw’s experience with the Samaritan. After all that Shaw has been through, would Root be able to get through to her? They further probed if Shaw is still the same person or not.

Shahi said she did not want to disclose information about it. However, viewers will learn what happened to her the past nine or ten months that she has been missing. She emphasized that the Samaritan has done a number of things to Shaw. Shahi then teases that the essential question is whether or not Shaw is still one of the group.

Furthermore, the interview reveals that Root may be the lone person to pull the real Shaw out and clear the fog in her head. This is because of their very intense connection.

Denise The, the co- writer for the episode, also notes that Shaw is the kind who does not feel and process emotions like other people do. She highlights that Shaw’s emotions have always been dimmed. Thus, in order to awaken her feelings, it is essential for the other person to have a strong chemistry with her.

Person of Interest” season 5 episode 4, titled “6,741,” airs on May 16 on CBS. It will also air on FX in Australia.
