“Castle” stars Stana Katic (Kate Beckett) and Nathan Fillion (Richard Castle) won the favourite actor and favourite actress trophies at the 42nd People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night.

Katic and Fillion won in the Favourite TV Crime Drama Actor and Actress categories, respectively.

Katic has now bagged three People’s Choice trophies for Favourite TV Crime Drama Actress. She has scored four nominations. This year, she beat Emily Deschanel, Lucy Liu, Mariska Hargitay and Pauley Perrette to take home the trophy.

Fillion won the Favourite Crime Drama TV Actor award beating Jim Caviezel, LL Cool J, Mark Harmon and Shemar Moore. He has been nominated five times, and he has collected four People's Choice Awards. He won the Favourite Crime Drama TV Actor award last year too.

Overjoyed “Castle” fans congratulated Fillion and Katic on Twitter. On the Twitter fan-page of “Castle,” a user called Fillionista said: “Congratulations #Caskett on your #PCA wins @NathanFillion @Stana_Katic #Castle pride!”

“Hurray for @Stana_Katic & @NathanFillion #PeoplesChoiceAwards #Castle #proudofourpeople,” said a user called Terri Edda Miller.

Fillion also took to Twitter account to express his surprise and delight at winning the award, adding a touch of humour typical of the actor. He said, “Wait! I won?! Thank you! I love you guys! I don’t think I got the right award, though. This one’s for softball.”

"Castle" Season 8 is currently on break, and it will return on Feb. 1 with new episodes. There are speculations that Season 8 might be the final season. Katic and Fillion's People's Choice trophies prove that the series continues to have a huge fan-following, even though the ratings are on a downward slide.
