Live Update People's Choice Awards 2016: Winners announced, complete winners' list

People’s Choice Awards 2016 is a special event. Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globe, this is an award ceremony where personalities in the field of performing arts are voted directly by fans.

The show produced by Procter & Gamble has been held annually since 1975 and is broadcast on CBS channel in the U.S. and on Global channel in Canada.

Originally, the awards were based on public opinion polls conducted by Gallup polls. Since the 31st People’s Choice Awards in 2005, winners have been decided on the basis of online voting.

The nominees for People’s Choice Awards 2016 were announced based on over 72 million votes cast across movies, music, TV and digital.

Meanwhile, at the event, Ellen DeGeneres receives the fourth annual People’s Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian, presented by Walgreens, during the live awards show from the Microsoft Theater. “Glee” actor Jane Lynch is hosting the 42nd Annual People’s Choice Awards.
