"Favorite On-Screen Chemistry" winners Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder created a stir at the 2014 People's Choice Awards after the "Vampire Diaries" actor planted a big kiss on his ex and co-star's cheek during their acceptance speech. Now, the 25-year-old actress talks about the controversial kiss and the current status of her relationship with former beau Ian Somerhalder.

"It's just honest. All it was was just honest. You call a spade a spade. I was trying to figure out, like what do you say in that situation?" Nina Dobrev revealed in the Entertainmentwise.com report. The actress shared that she expected people to find their appearance at the awards show awkward but insisted that it does not really have to be awkward so the two decided to just joke around to lessen the tension.

Ms Dobrev further confessed that all is well and cool between her and Ian after the breakup, the ex-couple are currently friends and co-stars and she will always have enormous love and respect for Ian Somerhalder. The actress explained: "If you're with someone for that long, there's obviously the qualities in them that you enjoy and that doesn't change just because you're not together anymore."

Nina Dobrev had fun attending the 2014 People's Choice Awards but the actress reportedly almost missed accepting the award and kiss from Ian Somerhalder. It turns out the brunette beauty enjoyed her holiday break in Australia so much that she did not want to return to the U.S. anymore.

In the Wet Paint report, Ms Dobrev revealed that she was even thinking of making up a fake death or kidnapping as an explanation to the question of why she did not come back. "I almost missed the People's Choice Awards! No, I actually didn't almost miss the People's Choice Awards, but I definitely booked my flight to the last possible moment," the actress shared in the E!Online report.

Nina Dobrev is now looking forward to going back to Australia and even move in after her vacation experience in the Land Down Under. The actress, who admitted that it is now hard for her to go anywhere after going to Australia, stated: "I want to move there. I'm obsessed with it. It's like Dorothy in Oz. I'm in Oz. I'm in love with Oz."
